Reliance Jio and Airtel Announce Up to 25% Price Hike on Prepaid and Postpaid Plans

Reliance Jio and Airtel have announced the price hike of their prepaid and postpaid plans up to 25%. This price hike is not an unexpected event as there were already some reports saying this though a price hike up to 25% is an unexpected thing to occur. Reliance Jio has increased the tariff by 25% while Bharti Airtel has increased it by 21%.

Reliance Jio Price Hike

Reliance’s cheapest monthly plan of Rs 155 which comes with 2GB data for a validity of 28 days will be available for Rs 189 now, Rs 299 plan that we usually go for because it comes with 2GB data per day for 28 days will be available for Rs 349. Annual plan prices have also gone up from Rs 1559 came with the 24GB for 336 days of validity will be available to the users for 1899. Similarly, the data add-on plan’s prices and postpaid plan prices have also been increased.

The company said in a statement “The introduction of new plans is a step in the direction of furthering industry innovation and driving sustainable growth through investments in 5G and AI technology,”. The new prices will be applicable from July 3.

Apart from increasing the tariff company has also mentioned that unlimited 5G data will be available on all 2GB/day and above plans. Reliance Jio two new new applications have also been introduced that are JioSafe- Quantum-secure and JioTranslate. The JioSafe is a communication app for calling messaging, file transfer, and more while the JioTranslate is a multi-lingual communication app for translating voice calls, voice messages, texts, and messages. Both of these applications will be free for Jio users for a year.

Airtel Price Hike

Airtel says that it has increased the price of the plans because it wants to increase the Average Revenue per User(ARPU) in “order to enable a financially healthy business model for Telecos in India”. This will help the company in making investment in network technology and spectrum. This will come into effect from July 3rd.

Now coming on the plans its cheapest monthly plan worth Rs 179 comes with 2GB data, unlimited calling, and 100SMS per day for 28 days of validity will be available for the users for Rs 199. Those who subscribe to the per-day data plan will have to give Rs 299 in place of Rs 299, Rs 349 in place of Rs 299, and 409 in place of Rs 359. The price of annual plans has also gone up like the Rs 1,799 plan and the Rs 2,999 plan will increase by Rs 200 and Rs 600 respectively.

Those who subscribe to the postpaid plans will also have to pay some extra amount. The 399 plan that comes with 40GB of data and an Xstream Premium subscription will cost Rs 449. The Rs 449 plan will cost Rs 549. Prices of two other postpaid plans have also gone up Rs 599 will be available for Rs 699 and Rs 999 will be available for Rs 1199.
