ISRO gives tribute to its founder Dr. Vikram A Sarabhai on his 51st death anniversary

Today the Indian national space agency ISRO pays tribute to the father of the Indian Space program and the founder of ISRO – Dr. Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai.

Dr. Vikram A Sarabhai has played a major role in the development of India. He was also made the chairman of the Indian Atomic Energy Commission when he played a vital role in making it a nuclear-powered country by establishing its foundation. He has even established many institutions like the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, etc.

After he passed away at the age of 52 in 1971 he received the Padma Vibhushan award, the country’s second-highest civilian honor in 1972. It has already been 51 years of its death however his achievements and innovations would last forever with us.

“Today is Dr. Vikram A Sarabhai’s 51st death anniversary. A tribute filled with gratitude to a great visionary and a humanitarian scientist” twitted the Indian Space Research Oraginsation (ISRO).

Some people even regard him as the man who defied all odds to create a successful Indian space program.
