Nigeria becomes the first African country to receive SpaceX Starlink’s internet service

It has also become the first African country to receive internet service provided by this partnership. The Nigerian Minister for Digital Economy Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim also posted about the same on Twitter. He mentioned that the deployment of their facilities in Nigeria had commenced. Nigeria is aiming towards providing internet accessibility to at least 90% of its citizens. The internet service provided by SpaceX Starlink is equipped with high speed network connectivity. It has the capability of reaching Nigeria’s several communities.
The hardware to access this internet subscription is priced $ 43 per month in Nigeria. A tech writer Bello Gbadebo posted on Twitter about the SpaceX Starlink network subscription which he bought for himself. He wrote that the 20 Mbps worked well on its initial test. This went up to 240 Mbps later on which was pretty commendable. He also commented on its latency and mentioned that it is pretty good. He added it worked well despite 30% obstruction.
As Nigeria welcomes SpaceX Starlink in the year 2023, other African countries might do the same soon. What will happen next will be awaited.
