Samsung Galaxy S23 FE with Snapdragon chip could be in works

Samsung Galaxy S23 Fan Edition phone could be in the works, claims tipster OreXda. In September 2022, the company unveiled the Galaxy S20 FE, which was followed up by the Galaxy S21 FE in early 2021. Some reports that surfaced last year claimed that Samsung would not launch FE-branded phones in the future. This could be the reason why the Galaxy S22 FE has not launched yet. Fresh developments suggest that the Galaxy S23 FE may launch this year.

South Korean publication The Elec reported last month that Samsung may bring back the Galaxy FE series since it plans to shrink its Galaxy A-lineup in 2024. Another South Korean publication, Hankooki, recently reported that the next Galaxy Fan Edition model will debut in the third quarter of 2023.

Now, tipster OreXda has revealed that the Galaxy S23 FE will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. The overclocked chip promises better performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC that powers the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 were the first Samsung phones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC.

In related news, Samsung launched the Galaxy A73 as its first A-series smartphone with a 108-megapixel camera. However, reports have revealed that the company will not launch the Galaxy A74. Instead of the A74, it may release the Galaxy S23 FE with a 108-megapixel main camera.
