Sunil Bharti Mittal confirms plans to hike mobile phone call as well as data rates in all mobile plans in the year 2023. Sunil Bharti Mittal is the Chairman of Bharti Airtel. In February, 2023, Bharti Airtel hiked their basic mobile service plan which is available for a duration of 28 days to INR 155 from the earlier plan which was being offered INR 99 only.
Mittal had confirmed at the Mobile World Congress also known as MWC that the tariff hike will happen across the board.
Why is Bharti Airtel hiking the price across all mobile service plans?
Well, the answer to this is inflation. Salaries earned have increased. The rent has risen.
Bharti Airtel believes that in order to make India’s telecom sector stronger, there is a need of building a strong telecom company in India. India’s digital dreams will be fulfilled post the realization of economic growth.
Mittal also added that 2G network services will not be discontinued until all customers upgrade to 4G and 5G network services. Meanwhile, the 5G network is currently being rolled out by the brand. This news is pretty exciting for Airtel customers.
He added that India’s current focus on digital infrastructure is proving to be beneficial. Mittal also denied buying a stake in PayTm for the time being. Lastly, he mentioned that the return on capital in the telecom business is low. So, the tariff hike across all mobile service plans by Airtel is bound to happen.
