Mitsubishi Plans to Launch 16 New Models in the Next Five Years: Here’s More About it
The Japanese automobile manufacturers, Mitsubishi is planning to launch 16 new models as part of their medium term strategy – Challenge 2025. The new models will include fully electric models, hybrid models and ICE(Internal Combustion Engine) powered models.

16 New Models From Mitsubishi Will Arrive in the Next 5 Years
Mitsubishi as part of their medium term strategy called Challenge 2023 has planned to launch 16 new models in the next five years. The brand has also revealed a group shot of the 16 models set to launch but most of the models aren’t revealed entirely and what is available is just a silhouette of how the car would look like.
The 16 models includes two row and three row SUVs and vehicles which will fit into the kei car, minivan and super mini car segments. Four of them is expected to be fully electric vehicles and nine of them are made with certain electrification, meaning they will be hybrid vehicles. Models with ICE powertrains are also included in the 16 upcoming models.
The automobile brand has also decided to increase its R&D(Research and development) expenses and capital investment by 30% and will also strengthen its collaboration with Renault and Nissan.
Among the 16 upcoming models, the ICE powered pickup which is expected to come as a successor of the Mitsubishi Triton/L200 is likely to come in 2023. The pickup, from its design is also confirmed to arrive as a sibling of the Nissan Navara and will share the same ladder frame underpinnings. Boxy wheel arches and fender extensions are also some of the other characteristics of the upcoming Mitsubishi pickup.
A new pick-up passenger vehicle, which will be the replacement of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, will also have the same architecture with more changes in its exterior design when compared with the previous Mitsubishi Triton/L200. A three row SUV, a new mini van and a new passenger kei car are also part of the ICE powered models.
Speaking of the hybrid line, the brand will launch the Mitsubishi Colt supermini and the Mitsubishi ASX which will be rebadged versions of the Renault Clio, that is soon to be facelifted and the Renault Captur respectively. Mitsubishi’s XPander will also be receiving a hybrid variant. A new hybrid two row SUV is also part of the hybrid line.
The fully electric models or the BEV(Battery Electric Vehicles) models will have four upcoming models among which there is a fully electric pickup. Two among them will also be made with the brands collaboration with Renault and Nissan. There will also be a 2 row SUV as well amongst the fully electric models.
Mitsubishi with the new line-ups is aiming to increase its sales to 1.1 million and to attain an operating profit of 220 billion yen. The brand also plans to gain a 7% profit margin as well. The brand expects the sales from ASEAN and Oceania markets as the deciding factor to this growth. Countries of Latin America, Middle East and Africa will also be receiving more products from the ASEAN market.
