Samsung had first launched an FE or fan edition smartphone in its S20 series followed by the a second version in the Galaxy S21 series. The FE devices were low end products of the S series but which still came in a lot of premium features.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE came out in the month of October of 2020 and as per what is estimated, 10 million units of the product have been sold. The later released Galaxy S21 was released only in selected markets and the sales of the device was fairly low compared to its previous model.

Samsung didn’t release the Galaxy S22 FE due to several reasons and two among them were the low demand of smartphones at the time and the unavailability of semi-conductor supplies. This had also aroused a doubt in the minds of people regarding whether the company had discontinued the FE smartphones.

Now as mentioned, the report published in Sisa Journal confirms that Samsung has already begun its preparation for the Galaxy S23 FE smartphone. Based on the report, Samsung has also selected partners for the production of the necessary parts required for the Galaxy S23 FE and the mass production of the parts is expected to start at the third quarter of this year. The finished products are to come out in the fourth quarter of 2023 as per plans.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will be having all the main features of the Galaxy S23 series but will have a lower pricing and as a result of price cutting, the specs will be compromised as well.

On the rear panel of the smartphone, we can still expect a triple rear camera setup along with an OLED display which will have a refresh rate of 120Hz. The device is also likely to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

Now about the pricing, the smartphone is expected to be 20% to 30% cheaper than the base model of the Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone. According to the market researchers, Omdia, about 2 to 3 millions units of the smartphone will likely be sold this year which will increase to about 6 to 7 million units next year.

It is also now confirmed that Samsung won’t be releasing the Galaxy A74 smartphone and the A7 smartphones which is considered to be the top end model of the Galaxy A series has been completely discontinued.
