Wait for a few weeks, there will be a big announcement says IT minister on being asked about Indian equivalent to ChatGPT
On Monday Ashwini Vaishnaw, the IT minister of India hinted at a “big announcement” that is likely to come in the coming weeks. When Vaishnaw was speaking at the Indian Global Forum event he was asked a question on whether India can build something similar to ChatGPT, the minister responded with “wait for a few weeks, there will be a big announcement”. He was specifically asked about this big announcement but he refused to make any comment by saying “Parliament is in session, so I cannot say anything…”.
India witnessed its first AI chatbot powered by ChatGPT in the form of Lexi. It was launched by the financial technology company Velocity. This chatbot has been developed to help e-commerce founders. Other than this other Indian companies are also looking ahead for such AI chatbot services. Customer queries and issues can easily be addressed and solved using these AI chatbot services and that’s why India’s move to develop something similar to ChatGPT can bring a big change in the market.
A few weeks ago ChatGPT was the only one in the world of AI with such incredible capabilities but as time passed competitors like Bard from Google also started appearing and some are on the way to coming into the market. Though ChatGPT has an advantage over others because it is the first to come in the market, the pace with which competitors are appearing and improving it can be conquered. If we talk about one of the competitors Ernie by China’s Baidu, its livestream product launch that was scheduled to happen on 27 March, has been canceled according to Reuters.
