Apple launches the Launch@Apple Mentorship Initiative for First Generation College Students, to commence early 2021
Apple also initiated a mentorship initiative named Launch@Apple, targeted at assisting first-generation college students with a major in banking, economics, and accounting. The program, which will be introduced at the beginning of 2021, will pair one-on-one students with Apple advisors and offer tools for ‘learning and opportunities for personal and professional growth,’ as outlined in the program text. Launch@Apple can also have resources for work shadowing, paid internships, and paid internships. Applications are now available and interested students can apply by 8 January 2021.
According to the PDF collected by MacRumors, Launch@Apple is freshmen and sophomores in the first generation of colleges in many subjects. The paper notes that the curriculum would “focus on the essentials to manage and then excel at school and work.”
The Launch@Apple report indicates that the software is meant for applicants who have a parent or guardian who has not earned a college degree. Students who are in the first or second year of college who wish to enroll in banking, economics, accounting, or similar disciplines related to business, mathematics, commerce, or data analytics are eligible for Launch@Apple.
The application form for the mentorship program, containing 18-19 questions, is to be completed and submitted to [email protected] by 8 January 2021, as per the text. Though Apple doesn’t seem to have made a public statement about the mentorship initiative so far, Apple engineer Logan Kilpatrick tweeted about the opportunity a few days ago.
Apple notes in the document that it welcomes students with a wide variety of GPAs and that the curriculum is tailored for students “who are eager to learn about working in finance in a fast-paced, innovative environment.”
