India’s first monolith spotted in Ahmadabad
A ‘monolith,’ which has existed and disappeared in various parts of the world since November, has now arisen in the garden of Ahmedabad District, Gujarat.
This is the first appearance in India of a monolith, a structure consisting of shiny steel sheets.
However, as in other parts of the planet, the mystery surrounding the object did not last long when it was discovered that it had been installed by a private corporation.
The triangular prism-shaped building, about seven feet tall, became a hit among city dwellers after it was spotted in a garden on the SG Highway on Thursday morning.
The garden is managed jointly by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Symphony Ltd. Situated near Gurudwara in the Thaltej district, it was one of the attractions recently inaugurated by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
Jignesh Patel, Director, AMC’s Garden Department said that the monolith was put there by Symphony Ltd, which takes charge of the garden. The structure has been installed for tourists by the firm. People can see their reflection on the reflective surfaces of the structure, and they can take selfies..
The first such three-sided steel monolith emerged and vanished after a few days in the isolated desert of Utah, the United States. Later, identical systems were found in some 30 nations.
The monolith was constructed at Symphony Forest Park on December 29 but became popular on Thursday as people flocked to the garden.
Apparently, to keep mysteries alive, the organization did not make any statement except to post some pictures of the structure on the Forest Park Facebook page on December 29.
