Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 key details tipped; Launch expected in second half of 2023
Since February, the rumour mill has been gradually leaking information about the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3. So far, reports have revealed the device’s highest configuration, the USB-C standard, and the launch timeframe. A recent Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station has some more details about the MIX Fold 3.
The Vivo X Fold 2 debuted yesterday as the world’s first foldable phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. In the screenshot of DCS’ Weibo post, he can be saying that Xiaomi’s next foldable phone will also feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Even though he has not directly mentioned the name of the device, it is evident that he is talking about the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3. While the Vivo X Fold 2 supports 120W fast charging, the MIX Fold 3 will only offer 67W fast charging like its predecessor, the MIX Fold 2 from last year.
The tipster further said that the MIX Fold 3 will be a thinner and a lighter device. Probably, he is comparing it with the MIX Fold 2, which measures 11.2mm in thickness (folded state) and weighs 262 grams.
He also said that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 will be equipped with a periscope zoom camera, a first for the MIX Fold lineup. The device will also support wireless charging. He added that the Fold 3 will be a waterproof device, but he is not sure about its IP rating.
As per previous reports, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 will come with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The highest variant of the device may offer 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It will also have a USB 3.2-compliant USB-C port like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Pad 6 series of tablets. It is likely to launch in the second half of the year, probably in the third quarter.
