Service Center asked 30k for servicing of 28k POCO F4 smartphone, is it fake or true
With each passing day, POCO India is trying to improve its services in India. The launch of POCO F5 with 1-year additional warranty was one such move to improve things that have been a bit unfavorable for it. Despite such effort, POCO India has again come to notice but not for good. A Twitter username Hemanta Debnath sharing the image of his POCO F4 device and service record document wrote ” My poco f4 sound stopped working after updating it to MIUI 14.0.4. So I visited the service center, and their sc guy rejected my warranty saying the device had bent and asking me to pay 30829.86₹ to repair” it.

The document shared by the user shows that it was issued on 12th May 2023. In the fault description, the service center has mentioned “Receiver no sound In Noncalling state”. This MI Service Record shows the amount to be paid for the repair Rs 30,829.
According to the user, the service center rejected his request to repair the phone saying the device had bent. The user has also shared the image of a smartphone placed on a plane surface, and aligned with scale to show that it’s not bent from anywhere.
As soon as it came to light a number of users retweeted this post by tagging Himanshu Tandon the Country Head of POCO India.
In response to these tweets, Himanshu Tandon asked them “Did you even check with the brand if it’s fake or not before posting and spreading this?”. He asked another user who reposted this tweet “People should actually check whether it’s genuine or fake before posting”.
In order to understand the story better we tried to verify if the post is genuine or not by asking a question to POCO India Support but the company didn’t respond.
The story didn’t end here and Himanta Debnath came with another post in which he wrote “Now Another drama started by Poco. At first, they are giving me a 50% discount on repairs which I rejected. Now they are saying that my phone has liquid damage!!! There is nothing mentioned in the job sheet about liquid damage, nothing about liquid is mentioned”.
He has also shared the screenshot of the response that POCO India wrote to him. The company has justified not giving service under warranty because of physical damage and liquid damage. The image doesn’t verify if the company asked for a 50% discount on repair but it has asked for service on a chargeable basis. The company has not made any response regarding this Tweet which is very much required.
