MediaTek partnered with NVIDIA to develop intelligent infotainment for automobiles

MediaTek partnered with NVIDIA to create tech for automotive in-vehicle infotainment systems. This partnership was announced on 28th May at a COMPUTEX press conference with MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai and NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang.

Tsai said about this partnership “NVIDIA is a world-renowned pioneer and industry leader in AI and computing. With this partnership, our collaborative vision is to provide a global one-stop shop for the automotive industry, designing the next generation of intelligent, always-connected vehicles,” mentioned in the NVIDIA blog post.

Further, he said that this collaboration will enable it to bring out a unique platform for the compute-intensive, software-defined vehicle for the future.

NVIDIA CEO explaining the results of this partnership said: “The combination of MediaTek’s industry-leading system-on-chip plus NVIDIA’s GPU and AI software technologies will enable new user experiences, enhanced safety, and new connected services for all vehicle segments, from luxury to entry-level.”

How is this partnership going to work?

MediaTek will work on developing automotive SoCs featuring NVIDIA GPU chipsets featuring NVIDIA AI and graphics intellectual property into design architecture. MediaTek to make this more auto-oriented will run NVIDIA Drive OS, Drive IX, CUDA, and TensorRT. According to Gartner market of infotainment and instrument cluster SoCs used within vehicles is projected to reach $ 12 billion in 2023 itself and this partnership is itself a big leap on the way to make automotive infotainment more personalized with full of awesome features for passengers and driver.
