Samsung’s recently unveiled Exynos Auto Chip to power Hyundai Cars; first collaboration of Samsung and Hyundai
Samsung has recently unveiled its latest automotive processor Exynos Auto V920 for advanced IVI systems. This latest processor has now marked Samsung’s first collaboration with Hyundai Motor in auto chip solutions. Exynos Auto V920 has been selected to power Hyundai Motor Company’s next-generation in-vehicle infotainment systems.
As per Samsung Newsroom, on this collaboration, Jae Geol Pyee, Executive Vice President of Sales and marketing, System LSI Business at Samsung Electronics said in a statement, “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Hyundai Motor, a prominent global mobility manufacturer, and we anticipate that this partnership will further solidify our position in the automotive infotainment space. Through close collaboration with our global customers and ecosystem partners, we will continue to create state-of-the-art automotive chip solutions that offer a safe and enjoyable mobility experience.”
Till now Exynos processors have powered many smartphones and tablets and now this special chip will be used for EVs.
Exynos Auto V920
This latest chip is designed to meet the needs of modern cars. With considerable upgrades in CPU, graphics, and neural processing the V920 will deliver an optimal in-vehicle experience. It has 10 core CPU, a powerful GPU, and a neural processing unit that can handle advanced driving assistance features. It also supports six high-resolution displays and upto 12 camera sensors.
As compared to the previous generation Exynos Auto chip this chip is 1.7x faster, GPU is twice as fast and NPU is 2.7x faster. This chip is designed to be Automotive Safety Integrity Level B compliant which will be beneficial for Hyundai as it is committed to providing safe and reliable vehicles. This chip is expected to be available in Hyundai cars from 2025.
