Google shares the first look of SPACE INVADERS: World Defense, an upcoming AR Game by Google and Taito

At the Google I/O event, the company revealed that it is partnering with Taito to launch an upcoming augmented reality game- Space Invaders: World Defense. It was said that Google will be using tools like ARCore and Geospatial Creator to let AR Space Invaders aliens fly around real-world invaders. Google and Taito will be launching this game after 45 years of the original game’s release.

It was officially confirmed by the company that it will be launching this AR game this summer. Now Google AR&VR has shared the first glimpse at Space Invaders: World Defense.

In this upcoming game, your city will be turned into a battleground while the mission for the gamers will be to join the World Defense team in order to defend the Earth from Space invaders and reach the high score in your neighborhood. As visible from the teaser video Invaders will appear from portals on buildings and other landmarks while the gamers need to use their advanced cannon in order to defend their neighborhood.

It was also announced that the Pre-registrations for this game will be starting soon. One thing is for sure the players will be able to experience this classic game in a whole new way. While the upcoming AR game will also be including all the classic elements of the original Space Invaders such as pixelated aliens, shields, and the spaceship at the bottom of the screen.
