Google Reportedly Testing “Playables”, A New Gaming Feature for YouTube
It has now been revealed, after Google’s Stadia, the giant tech company is taking its interest in gaming forward by bringing a new gaming feature, which the company has dubbed “Playables”, to its video streaming platform, YouTube.
Here’s more about it.
YouTube Playables
Reports reveal that Google is testing a new gaming feature for YouTube and as per which, it is reported that the brand has shared the game with its employees to be tested. Nothing much about the upcoming gaming feature is known, however one of the games that is going to arrive on the gaming platform has been revealed. “Stack Bounce” is one of the games that can be expected on YouTube Playables, which is just a simple arcade game in which its players with the help of a bouncing ball smashes layers of bricks.
Alex McQuiston, a YouTube spokesperson has also stated that, “gaming has long been a focus at YouTube” and “we’re always experimenting with new features, but have nothing to announce right now.” But from what is now known, users will be able to access YouTube Playables on their Android or iOS devices via the YouTube app and also on the desktop via YouTube Web.
It is to be noted that this attempt is not the first of its kind and company’s like Facebook and Netflix have also introduced games on their platforms. Facebook had also introduced the “Facebook Gaming” app, but was called-off due to some reasons. The games are however still available on Facebook web and on its application. Netflix on the other hand, allows its users to sign in via the Netflix account and download full sized game titles.
Google might introduce Playables adopting either of the above mentioned methods and with more updates we can confirm more about this new gaming feature the brand is going to introduce. Let’s just hope that YouTube Playables don’t meet with the same fate of Stadia and the gaming feature satisfies the expectations of its gamers and the gaming industry itself.
