Sony HT-AX7 Sound System Launched: Features Two Detachable Surround Speakers

The Japanese consumer electronics maker, Sony has launched its HT-AX7 sound system, a unique and a first of its kind device from Sony with two detachable wireless speaker units and a wireless centre speaker.

Here’s more about it.

Sony HT-AX7 Sound System

Sony’s latest newly unveiled HT-AX7 sound system is a portable wireless device that can be taken anywhere in the most convenient manner because of its compact design. Speaking of the device itself, it’s a wireless Bluetooth-enabled speaker unit which consists of a centre speaker and two detachable speakers. It supports Bluetooth connectivity of version 5.2 and will support Bluetooth profiles which include A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HSP and SPP.

The centre speaker consists of two front speakers along with two passive radiators on its sides and it itself is a 45W X-Balanced speaker unit. The two detachable units are 5W speakers each.

The Sony HT-AX7 with the three speakers will be able to offer an immersive audio experience to its users with the help of Sony’s 360 Degree Spatial Sound Mapping technology and the upmixer algorithm. On arranging the three speaker units in a triangular position, the device creates multiple phantom speakers within the room, enabling its users to have cinematic surround sound quality in a limited space.

The device doesn’t come with a physical speaker unit but with the help of Sony’s Home Entertainment Connect app, users will be able to control the device via their respective smartphone devices. Controls are also given on the centre speaker unit as well.

Sony’s HT-AX7 speaker unit will offer a total battery life of 30 hours to its users. The charging time it takes is 4 hours for the centre speaker unit and 4.5 hours for the detachable speaker units. The device also supports quick charging and a 10-minute charge is enough to enjoy a playtime of 150 minutes.

The newly unveiled Sony HT-AX7 speaker unit will be arriving in Australia and other global markets in the month of August 2023 with an expected price point of $500.
