After Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos declared his departure as Chief Executive Officer of the e-commerce giant, several CEOs, including Sundar Pichai, congratulated him on his new projects.
Bezos will now become Chief Executive Officer of Amazon, a change he claimed will allow him “time and energy” to concentrate on his other projects. Bezos will be succeeded by Andy Jassy, currently, head of Amazon’s Amazon Web Services cloud division, branded as AWS.
Bezos said in a note to employees posted on Amazon’s website, “As Exec Chair I will stay engaged in important Amazon initiatives but also have the time and energy I need to focus on the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, The Washington Post, and my other passions”. Blue Origin is Bezos’ space company.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet Inc, submitted his wishes to Bezos for his two passion projects—the Day 1 Fund and the Bezos Planet Fund. Pichai also congratulated Jassy on his new position as CEO of Amazon.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also congratulated Bezos and Jassy. They wrote: “A well-deserved recognition of what you have accomplished”.

Bezos is putting an end to his position as CEO on a high note: the company he started as an online bookshop 27 years ago is now one of the world’s most profitable businesses and has three straight record profits following losses in decades earlier, Reuters announced. Jassy, 53, entered Amazon in 1997 at Harvard Business School. He created AWS, which has now developed into a cloud network used by millions of clients.
