Super Mario Bros. live-action movie to get a 4K release in January 2024, to mark its 30th anniversary

The Super Mario Bros. live-action movie is reportedly getting a 4K release on the occasion of its 30th anniversary. The Super Mario Bros. live-action movie was released in the year 1993. The 4K release comes in a special box set, which is set to be released in January 2024.

The popular Nintendo video game, Super Mario Bros; got its live-action movie released in the year 1993. Produced on a budget of about $40 million, the movie was a flop back in the year 1993. It bagged about $38.9 million. The live-action movie saw Bob Hoskins as Mario and John Leguizamo as Luigi.

The movie also got an animated reboot version, which featured Chris Patt’s voice and Mario’s voice. It grossed over $1.3 billion at the box office.

The animated version of the film, which was released in the year 2023, performed better at the box office. According to researchers, this is because the animated version managed to stick to the colorful ambiance of the game. The live-action version, on the other hand, made it unnecessarily intricate with twists and by giving it a dystopia treatment, which resulted in the film deviating from the Super Mario world.

However, Umbrella Home Entertainment is now presenting a special box set, which includes a 4K Ultra HD version of the movie, three discs, two Blu-rays, BTS books, a film cell, posters, stickers, art cards, new audio commentary, and newly restored deleted scenes and trailers. The box set is priced at $100.
