Here’s how the accurate Heart Rate Tracking works on Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6?

In the month of September, Fitbit introduced its latest fitness tracker to their Google wearables domain- Fitbit Charge 6 which was claimed to arrive with enhanced health tracking features. Google also officially introduced the Pixel Watch 2 last month along with the Pixel 8 series. Both the Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6 were mentioned by Google to feature their most accurate heart rate tracking that helps users achieve their fitness goals and live a healthier life.

Recently Google has explained through a blog post how it is able to provide the most accurate heart rate tracking on this latest smartwatch and fitness tracker. Let’s take a look.

Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6- How the accurate heart rate tracking work?

Well if you thought that the heart rate is measured by monitoring your pulse rate then you are wrong here. Google introduced a heart rate sensor in the Pixel Watch earlier- a PPG sensor that uses light to measure the volume and movement of blood circulation by shining a green LED light onto your wrist that reflects the movement of your blood back to the sensor. But Pixel watch 2 features a brand new LED sensor having multiple LED and photodiodes that cover more surface area of your skin and give more accurate readings.

However, it depends on the users how hard these lights work based on the modes selected like- Passive all day, and exercise mode. With this update heart rate tracking as per the company has become 40% more accurate for vigorous activities like HIIT, spinning, and rowing.

Another reason behind accurate heart rate tracking is the improved AI algorithm of Fitbit Charge 6. The heart rate team at Google trained the algorithms on different types of movement and also considered a variety of factors that include skin tone, age, gender, and differently lit environments.

Both HR sensors and improved AI algorithms are the main factors that enable the Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6 to provide the most accurate heart rate tracking to its users.
