Huawei’s Kirin K9 Processor May Support Satellite Communication Technology: Suggests Tipster
Huawei is reportedly going to unveil a new processor this year and it is said to power one of its flagship series that is expected to debut in Q1 2024. A Chinese tipster has now revealed that this chipset might be supporting satellite communication technology.
Here’s more about it.
Kirin K9 Maybe Supporting Satellite Communication
This update is from Digital Chat Station, a tipster on the Weibo platform, and it has been mentioned in the shared post that many Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-equipped devices that are launching this year would likely have satellite communication support. The K9 processor from Huawei that is said to be in the works is also now noted to incorporate the two-way satellite communication technology, as per what has been tipped by the tipster.
Speaking more about this K9 chipset, based on reports, it is understood to be a possible shortened moniker of the K9000S processor which powers the latest Mate 60 series and Mate X5 devices. There is a chance that the K9 chipset would probably be a rebranded or maybe a tweaked version of the K9000s, but it is yet to be confirmed. It is also still not clear whether the K9 chipset will stick with the 7nm process of the Kirin 9000S, or may go for the 5nm process technology as Huawei is already capable in making chipsets with the 5nm process.
Regarding the smartphones that could be powered by the Kirin K9 chipset, the next P70 series from the brand is expected to use this Huawei processor. The Nova 12 Ultra was also said to come equipped with this chipset, however it has the Kirin 9000S processor onboard.
Stay tuned for more updates.
