Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world where various types of shows are organized on special occasions. Photos and videos of every event or show of Burj Khalifa are also shared from its official social media accounts. The discussion of Burj Khalifa is because nowadays a video is going viral on social media in which a picture of a man wearing an orange turban can be seen on Burj Khalifa. In this video, it is written at the bottom, “Picture of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale displayed on Burj Khalifa in Dubai.”

Thetechoutlook Fact Check Team has found that the viral video has been tampered with. The original video is from 2018 when the Chinese New Year was celebrated in Dubai. There is no such picture in it.

A Twitter user wrote in the caption, “Come back is always strong. #Haryana_ka_kisan_bemisaal”

At the same time, a Facebook user shared this video with a Punjabi caption, which translates to Hindi, “Picture of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale on Burj Khalifa!”. The archive of the post can be seen here and here.

What is the truth?

On searching, we found a video on YouTube which is similar to the viral video. The video is from February 2018 when the Chinese New Year was celebrated in Dubai. After watching the YouTube video carefully, we came to know that both videos have a lot in common. In the viral video, a visual effect of a dragon can be seen moving over the Burj Khalifa. Exactly the same visual effect we can see in the original video as well.

We also found the video of Chinese New Year 2018 on the YouTube channel of ‘Emaar Dubai’. Actually, this event was organized on 16 February 2018 and its video was uploaded by Emaar Dubai on its official YouTube channel on 17 February 2018. According to the information given in the YouTube description, Emaar presented the show with a spectacular theme at Burj Khalifa, which was attended by hundreds of people.” Emaar Properties is the construction company that is the developer of Burj Khalifa.

In Emaar Dubai’s YouTube video, at exactly 3 minutes 22 seconds, we were shown the same picture as in the viral video.

Born in 1947, Bhindranwale‘s original name was Jarnail Singh. Bhindranwale’s name was associated with Jarnail when he was elected president of Damdami Taksal – an organization that teaches about Sikhism and scriptures at an early age. Gradually Bhindranwale started giving air to Sikh separatism and the demand for separate Khalistan started gaining momentum. Later, under his leadership, Sikh extremists captured the Golden Temple in Amritsar. To deal with this, the Indian Army launched ‘Operation Blue Star’ in June 1984, in which there was a lot of bloodsheds and Bhindranwale was killed.

We also could not find any news report which states that the picture of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has been shown on Burj Khalifa.

It becomes clear from the investigation that the viral video of Burj Khalifa on social media is fake. The portrait of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was not shown on Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Actually, the video is 3 years old, which is being changed with the help of editing software and shared with the wrong claim.
