Google Pay SoundPod Introduced in India for Small Merchants: To Compete with Such PhonePe and Paytm Devices
Google has introduced its very own wireless speaker for verifying UPI payments and this device will be rolling out over the coming months. It will be competing with similar devices that have already been launched by PhonePe and Paytm in the country.

Google Pay SoundPod Unveiled in India
After a year long trial of the latest Google Pay SoundPod, Google has finally introduced it in India with rollout scheduled over the coming few months. The device is made for small merchants and it will help them in verifying the UPI payments they receive. PhonePe and Paytm, as mentioned, have their products in market and Google’s Google Pay SoundPod will be competing with these devices that are currently in use across the country.
Coming to the features, the Google Pay SoundPod is equipped with an LCD display screen and a single speaker unit. It comes with 4G network connectivity support and three LED indicators are present to give its users an idea about the battery, charging, and connectivity status. Physical buttons for menu, volume, and power have also been given on the device. One of the positive feedback received during the trial phase is that the Google Pay SoundPod will offer faster checkouts when compared to its competitors.
Regarding the subscription plans, there is a one time payment that the merchant will have to pay of Rs. 499 to receive it, and on top they can either go for monthly subscription of Rs. 125 or yearly subscription of Rs. 1,499. Also to add, as a bonus, Google will also be providing a Rs. 125 cashback on 400 QR code payments each month to merchants.
