Recently Musk announced on X that he will discontinue his number and will only use X for text and audio, video calls. Now an update has come in this regard that says that users will be able to make video and phone calls on X without having to enter the number and buy an X Premium subscription. The feature was exclusive to the premium users but now will be available to all.
Just recently Enrique Barragan revealed the news on the social media platform, writing:”we’re slowly rolling out audio and video calling to non premium users, try it out! Now you can also choose to allow calls from everyone,”.

Now the announcement has been made officially by the X official page that reads “Audio and video calling are now available to everyone on X! Who are you calling first?”

Here users need to know that they will only be able to receive calls from accounts they either follow or have saved in their contacts. Both of the users must have also interacted through direct message at least once in order to connect on call. Earlier it was rolled out for the iOS premium users and then it began reaching to the Android premium users.
How to make free calls on X
1)Go to the DM section
2)Tap on the phone icon and then go to either audio or video call option.
3)The person whom you are calling will be notified and if they miss they will get a missed call notification.
