Samsung Rumored to Bring Back the Square-Shaped Dial Design for its Smartwatches

It has now been reported that Samsung is rumored to switch back to its old square-shaped dial design for smartwatches. The major change maybe brought with this year’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 series devices.

Here’s more about it.

Samsung Might Re-Consider its Square-Shaped Dial Design

The South Korean tech giant, Samsung, had unveiled its very first smartwatch device – the Samsung Galaxy Gear back in the year of 2013, and this was also the very first smartwatch of the brand with the square-shaped dial design. Later, over the next two years, the brand had also released many other models such as the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Live with this same square-shaped design language. The Samsung Gear S that was launched around the same time can also be considered along with these devices as it featured a curved-rectangular dial shape.

It was in the year of 2015 that Samsung debuted its first circular dial smartwatch – the Samsung Gear S2. This device also had the physically rotating bezels that most Samsung watch users love. From the debut of the Gear S2 till the recent Galaxy Watch 6 series models, Samsung has maintained the circular dial design for its smartwatches.

Now, as per reported, Samsung is rumored to take the decision of switching back to their older square-shaped design language. However, it is still not sure about when Samsung plans to implement it, but the design would likely have similarities with the previous Galaxy Gear, Gear 2, and Gear Live models. Maybe we would be able to see the change in the next Galaxy Watch 7 series devices, or otherwise possibly only in 2025.

Stay tuned for more updates.
