Qualcomm officially unveils Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor that arrives with on-device AI support

Previously it was reported that many upcoming smartphones will be powered with the all-new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Soc while few of the details regarding this chipset were also revealed online. Qualcomm has today officially unveiled its latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 mobile platform. Let’s dive in to know the detailed information regarding this chipset.

It arrives with a Cortex-X4 prime core at 3.0GHz, four performance cores at 2.8GHz, and three efficiency cores at 2.0GHz. The key features include- support for powerful on-device generative AI features, an always-sensing ISP, hyper-realistic mobile gaming, breakthrough connectivity, and lossless high-definition sound. It supports a broad array of AI models including popular large language models (LLM) such as Baichuan-78, Llama 2, Gemini Nano, and Zhipu ChatGLM.

As per Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets, at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “We’re elated to introduce the latest addition to our premium Snapdragon 8 series, our most premium mobile offering, bringing a host of exceptional specially selected capabilities to more consumers.”

It arrives with a Snapdragon X70 5G-Modem RF System while it implements 3GPP Release 17 and 5G power savings. It supports Wi-Fi 7 standard. It includes a triple 18-bit ISP, semantic segmentation, Snapdragon low-light vision, and photo expansion capabilities.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will be adopted by key OEMS including Honor, iQOO, Realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi. While the first device equipped with this chipset is expected to be announced this month only.
