Discord all set to roll out sponsored quests or ads to ‘support game developers’ this week
According to the latest reports, Discord is now all set to add ‘ads’ on its platform. The motive behind this is to ‘‘support game developers” on the platform. Discord notified about their plan to include “sponsored quests” or ads on the platform in early March 2024.
Now, the latest developments bring in a report from ‘The Wall Street Journal’ which asserts that Discord will implement the sponsored quests this week. The sponsored quests are set to be displayed at the bottom left of the app.
The report further asserted that the paid promotions in question are from video game makers. These will offer user gifts, which you can avail of by completing in-game tasks while your friends watch you on Discord.
Peter Sellis, Discord’s senior vice president of product mentioned that users will receive the ads based on their gameplay, age, and geographic location data. He also stated that the ads will appear on the bottom left corner of a user’s screen.
If you want to complete a sponsored quest, you will have to stream yourself while doing the task. Moreover, there should be at least one friend watching your broadcast, while you do the quest on Discord.
Discord earlier stated that a user can opt out of seeing sponsored quests in the app.
The sponsored quests feature is expected to be rolled out within this week.
