Samsung Is Reported To Have Begun The Development Of 2nm Mobile Application Processor
There has been news already surfacing on the internet around Samsung’s strategy of Exynos chipset that has long been accused of heating issues. Now a new report has emerged from a Korean media outlet that says in a report that Samsung has begun the development of a 2 nanometer mobile application processor ( AP ). Samsung has reportedly named this development project ‘Thetis ’ name of a goddess of the sea in Greek mythology.
As far as its mass production is concerned it can be started in the second half of 2025 and can power the Galaxy S26 series that can arrive in 2026. As of now, only mobile application processors based on 3nm processors have been commercialized while most of the makers are still said to be just working on 2nm process chipsets. Apple can bring a 2nm process chipset to iPhone 17 while Qualcomm is still looking ahead to pick a perfect partner to mass produce its 2nm AP.
Samsung has seen a continuous decline and if the news about the 2nm AP comes out to be true it will give a major leap to the company. This shows that Samsung is reluctant to give up on its Exynos chipset which has faced backlash from users because of heating and other issues. This year company launched the Galaxy S24 phones in India with the Exynos 2400 processor based on a 4nm process. The upcoming lineup of the S series is reported to be powered by the Exynos 2500 based on a 3nm process.
