ASUS Launched ROG Ally X: Enhanced Design, Improved Specs, and Higher Price Point
After much-awaited ASUS has finally launched the ROG Ally X handheld gaming console with several improvements that gamers are going to appreciate it for. These improvements do come with an increased cost than their predecessor. Let’s get to know about this in detail.
Design aspect – ROG Ally X
The ASUS ROG Ally X comes in black color in place of the white color that gamers saw in its predecessor. This is not the sole change in design that you are going to see because its handles have also been redesigned with more rounded handles at the bottom so that you get a better hold of it in the hands. Triggers are bigger, macro keys redefined and flatter surface angles make all of the buttons easier to reach for a great gaming experience. Locations of joysticks have also been tweaked making it easier for each hand to move between.
Specifications
The ROG Ally X features a 7-inch wide touch panel with 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of peak brightness, and FreeSync Premium support. Its Corning Gorilla Glass DXC coating reduces the surface reflection and also makes it scratch-resistant. It is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor paired with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and upgraded storage of up to 1TB, an improvement over its predecessor. Now it utilizes a redesigned motherboard equipped with an M.2 2280 form factor slot.
The ROG Ally X is now backed by an 80Wh battery that is double the battery capacity of the predecessor and it supports 100W charging but comes with the same 65W adapter. Its internal zero gravity thermal solution now features ultra-thin fins, that is said to increase the airflow without making any noise. The ROG Ally X comes with two USB C ports on top, one is Type C USB3.2 Gen 2 port and the other is Thunderbolt 4 compatible USB 4 Gen 2 Type-C port thus allowing you to charge it and connect it to the monitor simultaneously. One of the notable things is that the microSD card slot has also been moved. Additionally, it comes with the updated Armory Crate (SE 1.5) for game library customization, Dolby Atmos tuned dual front-facing speakers, and wireless connectivity options of WIFI 6E and BT 5.2.
Price and availability
The ROG Ally X comes with several improvements that gamers are definitely going to appreciate though it also comes with the increased price that is $799.99. It is currently available for pre-order though it will hit the shelves in July.
