Motorola’s Moto S50 Neo aka Moto G85 5G launching on June 25th 2024 in China

Motorola has now unveiled the launch date of the upcoming smartphone, Moto S50 Neo. According to the microsite, the launch is set for 25th June 2024 in China. Earlier, a new Motorola smartphone was sighted on the TENAA certification, believed to be the Moto G85. However, the new teaser reveals it will be called the Moto S50 Neo in the Chinese market. I will discuss it in detail in the article below.

Moto S50 neo Specs

The teaser image uploaded on the microsite reveals some of the key specs officially disclosed by Motorola China. The smartphone will be available in three colours customised by PANTONE: Olive Green, Violet, and Black. Among these, the Golden and Purple options will feature “technological nano-leather.” Motorola further states that the micro-curved screen has the highest screen-to-body ratio at the same price point, with an integrated natural water wave design. Additionally, this smartphone boasts a Golden micro-curve triple eye protection.

It is going to be a lightweight smartphone, weighing about 171 grams (probably the black colour variant), and has a thickness of 7.59 mm. It packs a 5,000 mAh battery. The rear features a dual camera setup with a 50MP main camera equipped with a SONY IMX882 sensor and OIS support, alongside an 8MP secondary camera. According to the TENAA certification, the front will come equipped with a 32MP selfie shooter.

If you compare these new renders of the Moto S50 Neo with the leaked renders of the global Moto G85, they are a perfect match.

Sadly, the processor information isn’t present in this teaser. However, an earlier Geekbench listing revealed that its global variant will feature the Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 SoC. Additionally, the previous TENAA listing showed it will have a 6.6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080×2400. The TENAA listing also indicated an octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, suggesting that the Chinese variant will also feature the Snapdragon 4 Gen 3.

The RAM and storage options have been revealed: RAM options include 8GB, 12GB, 16GB, and 18GB, while storage options are 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Other features include a gravity sensor, distance sensor, light sensor, under-screen fingerprint recognition, and face recognition.

Currently, we don’t have an exact date for the global launch of the Moto G85, but it would be interesting to see if Motorola brings the 18GB RAM variant to the global market as well.
