Oppo A3x aka Oppo A20 a new 4G smartphone from Oppo Spotted on Google Play Console, launch is imminent

Oppo recently released the Oppo A3x 5G in both its home country, China, and global markets. It seems that a new 4G smartphone from Oppo is also on the way. This device, which will be called the Oppo A3x or Oppo A20, has already received approval from several certification bodies, which I will discuss in detail in the article below.

Oppo A3x Aka Oppo A20

Today, we spotted the Oppo A3x under another name, Oppo A20, on the Google Play Console’s supported devices list, with the model number ‘CPH2641’. This suggests that the same device is expected to be released under different names depending on the region.

Interestingly, it has also been listed on the Google Play Console with something out of the ordinary. The Google Play Console listing mentions both monikers, as noted above, with the same model number ‘CPH2641’. Unlike the Geekbench listing, which revealed 8GB of RAM and a CPU with 4 cores clocked at 2.02 GHz and 4 cores clocked at 2.11 GHz, the Google Play Console shows the SoC with the codename ‘SM6115’. This corresponds to a Snapdragon 662, which was released in 2020, though there is a difference in how the cores are clocked. According to the Console listing, 4 cores are clocked at 2GHz, and 4 cores are clocked at 1.8 GHz. Both listings show the same GPU, the Adreno 610. Additionally, the Console listing indicates a 4GB RAM variant and that the device will run on Android 14 OS.

This leads me to believe that the device might feature a new chipset altogether, rather than the Snapdragon 680 4G, which has a different core architecture. The screen resolution is listed as 720×1604 with a pixel density of 320 DPI.

Previously, this same model number ‘CPH2641’ was also spotted on TDRA, IMDA, BIS, Geekbench, TUV, FCC, and EEC. The TUV certification revealed a battery capacity of 4970 mAh with 45W fast charging support, while the FCC revealed one of the memory configurations to be 4GB + 128GB.

Regarding its launch timeline, I would say that since it has appeared in so many certifications, it’s only a matter of time before we hear something official from Oppo.
