Apple ‘s In- House 5G Chip Shipments Said To Start Rapidly From Next Year And Replace Qualcomm 5G Chips

Back in July, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple will move away from reliance on Qualcomm, and in the year 2025, two new iPhone models will ditch Qualcomm 5G chips and adopt Apple’s in-house 5G chips. These two devices were said to be the iPhone SE 4 which is expected to launch in Q1 of 2025 and the iPhone 17 which is expected to launch in Q3 of 2025.

Well, Ming-Chi Kuo has again shared an update regarding Apple’s in-house 5G chips on the X platform.

According to the analyst, his latest supply chain survey indicates that Apple’s in-house 5G chip shipments will grow rapidly and replace Qualcomm 5G chips. It is said that Apple’s in-house 5G chip shipments will reach 35-40 million units in 2025 will increase to 90-110 million units in 2026 and 160-180 million in 2027.

Well if these predictions are accurate then this will be a significant achievement for Apple as it will further cement Apple’s strategy of controlling key components in its ecosystem. This would also cause a bi-effect on Qualcomm’s 5G chip shipments and licensing sales as Apple’s reliance on Qualcomm will reduce.

Also if all goes well with Apple’s in-house 5G modem then the company is likely to include this chip in many iPhones and iPads that will launch in the future.
