MediaTek’s Next Dimensity 8400 Sub-Flagship Chip Core Configuration and Clock Speeds Revealed
The Taiwanese semi-conductor company, MediaTek, unveiled its flagship Dimensity 9400 processor a month back in October 2024 and we have already seen the debut of a few smartphone devices with this chipset onboard. It has only been a few days since we started hearing about the brand’s sub-flagship Dimensity 8400 SoC. The tipster Digital Chat Station has now revealed the core configuration and clock speeds of this upcoming Dimensity 8400 chip.
Here’s more about it.
MediaTek Dimensity 8400 – Core Configuration and Clock Speeds
Based on the tipster’s latest Weibo update, the next Dimensity 8400 chip is revealed to bring a full core architecture design with the ARM Cortex-A725 as the primary core. It has been mentioned that the core configuration of the chip could be 1 (primary core) + 3 (performance cores) + 4 (efficiency cores), with respective clock speeds 3.x GHz, 3.x GHz, and 2.x GHz.
To note, the same GPU IP that was used on the Dimensity 9400 processor could also be seen in the Dimensity 8400 chip as well, and the tipster adds that the performance scores of it is still in the process of being optimized and improved. Just to add, the previous update from tipster Digital Chat Station also suggested that the TSMC’s 4nm process technology may be used to manufacture the Dimensity 8400 chip.
A proper launch time frame regarding the debut of the Dimensity 8400 sub-flagship chip is still unknown, however, a chipset carrying the model number ‘MT6899’ was spotted on Xiaomi’s HyperOS codebase (via Gizmochina). It is believed to be MediaTek’s Dimensity 8400 itself and this means that the chip could be featured soon on a Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO branded device.
