We’re just a few days away from Google’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro launch event on October 19th, but if you want an early peek at what to expect, check out this massive thread of leaked pictures from renowned leaker Evan Blass. The thread contains what look to be official renderings of both phones, photographs of cases, and photos of individuals using the phones – and it’s the latter group of images that piqued my curiosity.
I’ve been wondering why Google opted to create the big camera bar across the rear of both phones since early reported renderings of the Pixel 6 range surfaced online. It’s never really appealed to me, and the fact that the bar isn’t flush with the rear of the room doesn’t help.
The Pixel 6 lineup has a unique look that you won’t be able to mistake for any other phone, according to Blass’ photo dump, which includes twelve photos of people actually using the phones. Seeing these photos confirmed something about the Pixel 6’s design for me: the camera bar and two-tone colour choices give the Pixel 6 lineup a unique look that you won’t be able to mistake for any other phone. Even if someone doesn’t know what the Pixel 6 is, they won’t confuse it with an iPhone, and that distinct look may be enough to convince those who haven’t tried a Pixel before to do so.

Another set of images clarified a query I had regarding the Pixel 6’s appearance in a case. According to the pictures supplied by Blass, Google’s official covers will fit around the camera hump, but the borders around the bulge look to have a ridge, so even with the cases on, the phone will not lay flat on its back.

The Pixel 6 in green, black, and orange, as well as the Pixel 6 Pro in silver / grey, black, and gold, were also rendered by Blass. The style and colours of the phones were already unveiled by Google in August, so there aren’t many surprises in these renderings.

Other photographs of the forthcoming phones were released by Blass last week, including images of a new Pixel Stand wireless charger (which, according to an entirely different leak, is rumoured to support 23W wireless charging). However, we won’t have to wait long to hear more about the Pixel 6, so stay tuned to The Verge for coverage of the phone’s October 19th launch event.
