Prasar Bharti Launches Its Own OTT Platform Waves In India

Prasar Bharti has today unveiled its Waves OTT app at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. This OTT platform is made available for both iOS and Android users.

As per the listing on Play Store, Waves isn’t just an app but a one-stop destination for everything India loves. From the legacy of Akashvani and Doordarshan to the latest trending content or something fresh and fun, Waves has it all. This platform offers a wide range of entertainment, including movies, TV series, live events, games, and even educational material.

It is available in 12 languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Marathi and Assamese. Users can also build their own avatars on the app There is a library featuring timeless shows like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Shaktimaan, and Hum log while it also includes India’s past stories, news, documentaries, and regional content. It will be spread across 10+ genres of infotainment.

The app will provide video on demand, free-to-play gaming, Radio streaming, Live TV streaming, 65 live channels, and online shopping through Open Network for Digital Commerce. This OTT platform is said to bridge the gap between traditional television and modern streaming.

Waves also offer its platform to content creators including National Creator Awardees like Kamiya Jani, RJ Raunac, Shraddha Sharma, and others. Waves have also opened its portal to student graduation films from film and media colleges like FTII, Annapurna, and AAFT.
