Samsung to Discontinue DeX Support for PC on Windows OS with the Latest One UI 7 Custom Skin
The tech world is excitedly waiting for the next One UI 7 custom skin of Samsung which will be based on the Android 15 operating system and the beta program for the flagship Galaxy S24 series smartphones is said to be announced next month in December 2024. Recently via the brand’s official website of Spain, some of the key features of the latest custom skin were shared and amidst this, another update has arrived pointing out that one of the fan-favorite features will be removed from One UI 7.
Samsung has now updated its Samsung DeX page on the official UK website, revealing the discontinuation of DeX support for PC on Windows OS. An alternative option has also been recommended to its worried users as well. Read more about it below.
Is Samsung Really Discontinuing the DeX Support for PC on Windows OS?
As mentioned, Samsung has confirmed this through its Samsung DeX page on the official UK website stating that the ‘DeX for PC on Windows OS will end support from One UI 7’. This means that users from the next One UI version onwards won’t be able to use the DeX platform to access and view their phone screen on a Windows OS-powered PC.
The obvious reason for the decision to discontinue DeX support for PC on Windows OS is probably because Windows OS already offers a similar feature called ‘Link to Windows’, and this itself is the alternative option that Samsung has recommended to users who have been making use of the DeX service.
Here’s How to Access Link to Windows Feature
- Launch the Phone Link application on your Windows OS PC.
- Select ‘Android’.
- Launch your phone camera and scan the QR code which has appeared.
- A PIN code will be generated. Enter this on your phone.
- Allow the necessary permissions.
- This completes the linking process and following the onscreen instructions, you are good to go.
