Mahindra is the First Indian Automaker to Feature Dolby Atmos in Electric SUVs
Mahindra has partnered with Dolby Laboratories to integrate Dolby Atmos in its upcoming Electric Origin SUVs – the BE 6 and XEV 9e, becoming the first Indian automaker to feature this technology in its vehicles.
The system will be accessible through Gaana, which comes integrated into the vehicles’ infotainment systems. Both SUV models will include a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system as standard equipment. The setup consists of three-way speakers near the front seats with tweeters, mid-range, and woofers, Harman’s Unity Speaker design in the center, mid-range rear surround speakers, a subwoofer, and two ceiling-mounted speaker drivers.
“We are excited about the possibilities that our collaboration with Mahindra can bring for customers in India. Dolby Atmos in Mahindra’s Electric Origin SUVs – BE 6 & XEV 9e, will take the car journey to an entirely new level by transforming the interior cabin into an entertainment space that brings consumers closer to the content they love. With Dolby Atmos, every ride will be an extraordinary experience that complements the unlimited potential of the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e,” said Karan Grover, Senior Director, Commercial Partnerships – IMEA, Dolby Laboratories.
“The BE 6 and XEV 9e embody Mahindra’s vision of delivering extraordinary experiences across every aspect of driving. By integrating Dolby Atmos, we are setting a new benchmark for in-car entertainment, ensuring that every journey is not only seamless but also truly immersive,” said R Velusamy, President – Automotive Product Development, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Joint Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited.
The system enables audio positioning throughout the cabin space, which can provide enhanced detail and sound separation. Consumers will be able to access this feature through the Gaana app in the vehicle’s infotainment system.
