Indian Railways to Launch IRCTC Super App: A Unified Platform for Railway Services
Indian Railways is set to introduce the IRCTC Super App in December, aimed at consolidating multiple railway services into a single platform. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) in collaboration with IRCTC, the app will allow passengers to manage various travel-related tasks from one interface.
Features of the IRCTC Super App
The app will integrate functions currently spread across separate platforms like IRCTC Rail Connect, UTS, and Rail Madad. It will provide:
- Booking for reserved and unreserved tickets,
- Purchasing of platform passes,
- Real-time train tracking,
- Access to catering services, and
- Feedback submission.
IRCTC will remain the interface for reserved ticket bookings, maintaining its role in ticketing services. The app’s development by CRIS aims to streamline services and improve functionality.
CRIS, the organisation managing Indian Railways’ software systems, is leading the development of the app. The rollout is scheduled for December, with CRIS and IRCTC working together to integrate existing systems into a unified application.
The app will replace the need for multiple applications, providing a centralised platform for ticket bookings, train tracking, catering, and other services. This integration aims to simplify the process for passengers, reducing the effort involved in managing railway-related tasks.
