Wipro join hands with National Grid in london to boost digital innovation
Wipro, an IT firm, said on Thursday that it has inked a multi-year worldwide strategic IT and digital contract with National Grid, a prominent international electric and gas utility provider based in London, to help them accelerate their digital innovation journey.
“Wipro is honoured to be chosen as a strategic partner by National Grid, one of the world’s leading utility corporations. “This new cooperation builds on the two businesses’ successful two-decade-old alliance,” said Geoffrey Jue, Wipro Limited’s vice president-ENU sector head.
“Wipro will deliver cloud services using standardised tools and procedures to improve National Grid’s infrastructure services and support its strategic business objectives,” he added.
Wipro said it will use standardised tools and procedures to deliver cloud services that will help National Grid enhance its infrastructure services and achieve its strategic business goals.
Wipro’s boundaryless enterprise solutions will help National Grid continue its digital transformation, integrate its managed services, and consolidate numerous data centres throughout the UK and the US to next-generation hosting services as part of this agreement, according to a statement.
“These long-term data centres will enable improved programme governance, more consolidation, and the movement of all server and application activities from traditional data centres,” the company stated.
Wipro will also assist National Grid with mainframe migration and the move to managed services, as well as the ultimate deployment of a hybrid cloud solution.
“Wipro will assist us in accelerating our digital journey as we seek to attain next-generation capabilities in infrastructure hosting services as a key partner.” Shannon Soland, National Grid’s chief technology officer, stated, “Wipro’s experience will be invaluable as we seek to enhance our operating model to match with our Net Zero carbon objective.”
In addition, Daniel Jablonski, the company’s head of cloud and hosting services, stated that the company’s data centre consolidation initiatives will result in a 60% decrease in data centre footprint and a 40% reduction in data centre CO2 emissions.
“In addition, as National Grid continues to build the future of energy, this transformational programme, in collaboration with Wipro, will position our IT capabilities to enable modernised SDDC techniques, technologies, and operating models to accelerate our own digital transformation,” Jablonski said.
