OnePlus 13R Might Get a New Wireless Band Activated Via an Update, Reveals FCC
As per FCC, it has now been revealed that OnePlus may soon be activating a new wireless band for its latest OnePlus 13R smartphone device with the help of an update. The brand has already sent/filed a request for the same to/before the FCC certification authority.

OnePlus 13R May Soon Get an Update for Supporting WiFi 6 GHz
The Chinese smartphone and other consumer electronics manufacturer – OnePlus is now revealed to have raised a request before the FCC certification authority in order to enable WiFi 6 GHz (802.11 a mode) via a software update. The request letter also points out that all the other RF parameters will remain the same as before, and no other changes will be made.
Based on this, it can thus be understood that the OnePlus 13R smartphone did equip itself with the required hardware to support WiFi 6 GHz, but the software side of the device for some reason disabled the feature. This also serves as a possible explanation to why certain users have been facing WiFi connectivity issues on the device.
Just to add, the OnePlus 13R smartphone received the FCC certification with the FCC ID of ‘2ABZ2-OP23869’ late last year in 2024, and an FCC approval is needed when enabling a new wireless frequency band. If an update enables WiFi 6 GHz (802.11ax/a) or disables 5G/4G band, an FCC approval for the same is mandatory before rolling it out.
