Jeff Beroz taking Amazon to Great Heights, Now Even Space

Jeff Bezos, in his plan to take Amazon to great heights is taking Amazon to space. Amazon new Project Kuiper is in force as the first two prototype satellites from the e-commerce giant are set to launch in fourth quarter of 2022. It will secure the feature of high-speed internet-from-space to users from low earth orbit.

Now Amazon will be ahead in the fierce competition with SpaceX owned by Elon Musk and OneWeb and others. Amazon in 2019 declared the goal of deployment of constellation of 3236 satellites in Earth orbit. It plans to spend about $10 billion on the project and also talked about a customer antenna concept in 2020. The launch will be a crucial test for satellites and Amazon.

The Vice President of Amazon, Rajeev Badyal who is in charge of the Kuiper Project stated, “You can test all the stuff you want in your labs, which we do — we have spent, unfortunately, a lot of money to build infrastructure to test these things, But the ultimate test is in space.”

The launch of prototype satellites as a part of Kuiper Project will test the quality of internet between the space and company’s antenna which will work for customers getting better internet at low costs. Amazon has always emphasized in producing consumer electronics like Alexa smart speakers and Fire sticks for streaming TV which will provide better experience at affordable prices

Andy Jassy, Amazon’s CEO talking about the Kuiper Project stated that Amazon needed some “blind faith” that it could figure out the complex new technology. In addition to that, he said, “You’ve got to make sure in the way that you’re thinking about operating it, and what the customer experience is going to be, that customers will adopt it and find it easy enough and attractive to use.”
