According to a tweet from Press Trust of India, the Delhi govt deploys 15 boats to remove forth from the Yamuna with help of ropes. Residents of Delhi and concerned environmentalists were sent shivers by images of worshippers taking a swim in the froth-filled waters of the Yamuna river. The outburst has sparked a political tug-of-war between Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and neighboring states.
While BJP officials claimed that the AAP administration refused to allow Chhath celebrations on the Yamuna’s banks in order to disguise the river’s “pathetic” state, AAP leaders Gopal Rai and Raghav Chadha blamed the foaming in the river on the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
