“Yes next year”, Ola CEO confirms they will work on e-motorcycles and cheaper e-scooters
Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal confirmed the reports of the firm is working on the development of electric motorcycles and cheaper electric scooters via Twitter. He claimed that the cab-aggregator-turned electric vehicle startup will work on the models of electric vehicles next year.
The CEO retweeted in response to a news post by Electrek about the production of electric motorcycles and cheaper electric scooters and wrote, “Yes next year”.
Working on thus project, the firm has also raised a total of $200 million in September to fasten the development and introduce the electric motorcycles and cars as soon as possible. Aggarwal also tweeted that the funding raising process was part of its ‘Mission Electric: No petrol 2W in India after 2025’ in which it claims to the end of petrol-powered two wheeler on Indian roads by 2025.
The company’s first battery-powered scooter Ola S1/ S1 Pro launched in August this year are gaining great popularity even when they are just offered for test drives now in cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. It is arranged to for customers to take a look and reserve them for purchase soon.
The company stated that it is currently focusing on 10 lakh annual production capacity and then will scale it up to 20 lakh, according to the market demand, in the first phase.
The company claimed that when its plant is completed totally that it would have an annual capacity of one crore units, “that is 15 per cent of the world’s entire total two-wheeler production”.
The company has decided to complete the selling procedure of the electric scooters after the completion of the test driving sessions starting from 10th November and moreover it is on track to hand over the scooters within the “specific delivery window” announced earlier.
