There were no EV incentives so tough to make the case for electric cars – Elon Musk

Elon Musk has been a volunteer to increase the capacity of electric vehicles around the globe. He has been making a lot of efforts for the same. He recently made a comment that there are no EV incentives and as gasoline is available at a lower price, it becomes difficult to sell EVs. This means Elon Musk is basically advocating some kind of incentives that should be given to EV manufacturers.

However, he is talking about US and European markets where there are no such incentives to EV manufacturers. But this is not the case in India as the Government is trying to incentivize EV manufacturers. Elon Musk recently tried to negotiate a deal with the Indian government to reduce the cost of Import Duty on such vehicles. However, this was not well received by the Indian manufacturers and they were totally against it.

Elon Musk wrote in a reply to w tweeter user “There were no EV incentives (nor did we expect them) & gasoline was super cheap, so tough to make the case for electric cars. My guess was that we had <10% chance of success & most people thought 0%. The history car startups is just one big graveyard.”
