In Switzerland, the first suspected instance of COVID-19’s Omicron variant was discovered

The first probable case of COVID-19’s Omicron form has been discovered in Switzerland, the authorities announced late Sunday, as the country strengthened immigration restrictions to stem the spread of the virus.

According to the Federal Office for Public Health, the instance involves an individual who returned to Switzerland from South Africa about a week ago.

It stated that testing will clarify the situation in the following days.

Switzerland has decreed that passengers from 19 countries must submit a negative test before boarding a flight to the country, and that they must spend 10 days in quarantine once they arrive.

Australia, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, South Africa, and Israel are among the countries on the list.
