‘Shocking!’ say politicians and internet users. Deal between ISRO and Oppo India
Users on social media are perplexed as to why consumers should boycott Chinese apps when the International Space Station (ISRO) is in the process of finalising a deal with a Chinese firm.
An agreement signed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Oppo India, the local arm of Chinese electronics giant Oppo, has sparked a debate, with political leaders and internet users questioning the Indian space agency over the deal, which was signed despite Chinese aggression in eastern Ladakh and the Union government’s subsequent ban on Chinese apps.

“Good day, China.” a lot of love Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Rajya Sabha MP, tweeted, “ISRO.” “It astounds me to no end that on the one hand, we as a nation are attempting to keep them off the border and minimise their exposure to Indian markets, but on the other hand, important arms of India and national security remain ignorant to the threat,” the Shiv Sena leader continued.

Dr. Shama Mohamed, a spokesperson for the Congress, called the development “shocking.” “On the one side, China is annexing Indian territory unlawfully, while on the other hand, ISRO partners with Chinese cellphone giant Oppo for tech R&D!” she tweeted.
Other netizens described the ISRO-Oppo India pact as “shocking,” “blunder,” and “mistake,” while others questioned why people should boycott Chinese apps when no less than ISRO is signing a deal with a corporation from that nation.
While the ISRO has yet to publish a statement on the agreement, Oppo India confirmed it on Twitter on Friday. “Oppo India engages with @isro to equip them with industry-leading R&D capabilities, supporting the goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” “Together, we embark on a new journey to create a brighter future,” it tweeted, aiming to establish a convenient and user-friendly NavIC application.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two parties will connect the NavIC messaging service with the mobile handset platform, with an eye toward Indian users, in order to provide quick, ready-to-use, end-to-end application-specific solutions.
NavIC stands for ‘Navigation with Indian Constellation,’ and it is a satellite-based positioning system that is used for important national purposes. ‘Indian Reginal Navigation Satellite System’ was its prior name (IRNSS). Its main goal is to offer the user with dependable position, navigation, and timing services with ‘pretty excellent’ accuracy.
