An enraged crowd lynches a man who attempted desecration at Amritsar’s Golden Temple – WATCH VIDEO
While evening prayers were being held at the Golden Temple, the event occurred.
On Saturday, December 18, a man was beaten to death by enraged devotees outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar after he was allegedly detected committing sacrilege.
While evening prayers were being held inside the temple, this man allegedly leaped over the metal fence around the Guru Granth Sahib and attempted to defile the Sikhs’ Holy Book with a sword.
Parminder Singh Bhandal, Amritsar City’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), told ANI, “One 24-year-old man barged into the Golden Temple today, destroying the sacred book (Guru Granth Sahib). The Sangat people led him away after he attempted to desecrate it with a sword. After an altercation, he died.”
The man jumped inside the holy enclosure and began striking the holy Granth Sahib with a Kirpan, according to the footage recorded from the CCTV camera. According to sources, the man obtained the kirpan from the Gurudwara, which was located near the holy Sikh scripture.

Officials are said to have declared the individual deceased. The investigation into the matter is continuing.
