Budget 2022 : Policy and development of 5G likely to get more priority
Various reforms have been declared in the Telecom sector under the Union Budget 2022. It’s an area of interest how these Budgetary allocations will follow these reforms.
There is a requirement of Budgetary allocation for the growth of 5G technology along with the equipment. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that a spectrum auction will be held this year in which the roll-out of the 5G mobile service will be facilitated within the next year, the Financial year.
Sitharaman also said that the strategy used will be design-led which will bring a strong ecosystem for 5G as part of the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI).
The central government will sign contracts for laying optical fibers in all villages under the project – BharatNet in 2022 and 2023.
This will be accomplished under Public-Private Partnership (PPT). It is expected to be completed by 2025.
