IPL 2022 Auction: West Bengal sports minister Manoj Tiwary among shortlist

The 590 shortlisted players for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction will be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13, including India cricketer and West Bengal Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Manoj Tiwary.
He played 98 matches in the IPL for the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals), Kolkata Knight Riders, Rising Pune Supergiant and Punjab Kings. Besides his 1695 runs, which includes seven fifties, he also has a wicket to his name. Tiwary last played for Punjab in the 2018 IPL.

The base price for Tiwary will be Rs 50 lakh.
The West Bengal cricketer Manoj Tiwary was part of the IPL 2020 public sale but was not sold. The Indian cricketer was also bought for Rs 1 crore at the IPL 2018 public sale, which was also the last time he was auctioned. The SunRisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings competed for him, with the latter winning for Rs 1 crore.

In 2021, the former Bengal captain joined the TMC ahead of the Meeting polls and won the Shibpur seat, beating BJP candidate Rathin Chakraborty. Currently, he serves as the Minister for Sports activities and Youth Affairs within the Mamata Banerjee-led party TMC.

Manoj Tiwary was named within the 21-man Bengal squad for the Ranji Trophy earlier this year. Bengal’s last Ranji Trophy game was against Saurashtra in 2020.
