Indian Premier League has seen a constant evolution in its logo over the seasons

One of the most anticipated two-day TATA IPL 2022 Auction event occurring in Bengaluru is only a week away. The start time of the IPL 2022 auction will be 11 am IST and will be streamed on Star Sports. It can also be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

This year the ownership of the Indian Premier League has been handed to TATA while in 2021, the ownership was given to Vivo.

Among the social media buzz, all the players are gearing up for the upcoming auction event. Over 590 cricket players have been shortlisted for the IPL auction including 370 Indian players and around 270 Non-Indian players. BCCI was responsible for the shortlisting of cricketers. The 590 shortlisted players will take part in the auction. 33 players have already been bought by 10 franchises. Moreover, two new teams have entered the IPL in 2022 including Lucknow Super Giants and Ahemdabad Titans.

The first season of the Indian Premier League started back in 2008 and its logo has constantly evolved each year from DLF IPL to TATA IPL in 2021. The logo consists of a batsman stroking a fast-moving ball with a blue text mentioning ‘Indian Premier League.

The DLF IPL logo of the five seasons consisted of a pyramid logo of DLF, India’s largest real estate developer. From 2014-15, the ownership was transferred from DLF to Pepsi and the logo incorporated the Pepsi logo along with the batsman. The following four seasons, the ownership was handed out to Vivo, a smartphone brand. During those seasons, the logo incorporated the Vivo logo including the batsman. In 2020, Dream 11, India’s biggest fantasy-based game was given the proprietary rights of IPL. The IPL 2020 consisted of a red-colored Dream 11 logo. The following year the rights were again given to Vivo.

In 2022, TATA has taken over the ownership of the Indian Premier League. Hence the logo of IPL includes a TATA logo also. With every season, there was a constant evolution of the IPL logos based on the company that has been given the IPL rights.
